A few closing pics

Job is completely done so I thought I'd add a few more pics to Laura's. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone especially Laura for organizing such a great effort. Who else could have spun up that many people in that short of time to get such a great job done. Nick did acceptance testing and skateboarded down the entire length of the ramp. Works great! Nice and smooth.

No Need for a Contingency Day

So, when I left Saturday at 4:30 PM, I was convinced that 50% of the work was complete. Well, several folks stayed late, worked under lights, and almost finished! I am totally amazed with the progress. Not sure why I should be surprised by this group. After all they figured out a way to fix a torn solar array blanket from 200 miles away. The determination and heart of this group is quite overwhelming. I know Kevin, Deneen, and the kids are blown away with the impressive work you all are doing. Things are winding down this afternoon and the ramp will be ready for Kevin's return on Wednesday. I know he'll love it...heck, my house next weekend???

Incredible Progress on Day One

What an amazing beautiful and successful day. The weather was great and everyone was ready and willing to give it their best. The day started off at Kemah hardware and ended with a nearly complete ramp. We'll definitely need help tomorrow to finish, but if tomorrow goes as well as today we'll be done in no time. Thank you to all who took time to come out today. Your generosity and big hearts mean tons to the Pehr Family. Tomorrow we'll start at 9 AM.

Alan did a great job!

The last blog was left by Alan McDougal. Alan and his wife Steph just left my house after completing the plans and making a supply list. Alan modeled the ramp so we could make sure there was room in the area. We also spoke to Deneen and Kevin. We walked Kevin through the plans and he provided us with comments and approved the plans! It is really important to us that this looks like what Kevin envisioned.

Anyway, I look forward to a good working weekend. I too have my own restrictions this weekend, but together we can get this done! Thank you in advance to all of you coming out to help. I'll call about the supplies in the morning and I hope we can get going by mid day.

Plans as approved by Kevin

OK so there's no handrails shown but this is basically what we're going to build. Laura's working on getting the supplies. Plan is still to start at 11:00. There'll be a lot of finish planning first thing so don't worry about being late. Bring whatever tools you want. The deck is planned for screwed construction so power drills and bits (maybe square, maybe phillips) would be awesome!

Building the Access Ramp - Schedule

Ok, all, I was overwhelmed with all your generous emails for help. I guess I asked for it. I have decided to go the easy way. I've created this blog to keep everyone updated with the process and schedule for the weekend work at the Pehr's. Tentative schedule of events:

Saturday, May 24th: Meet at the Pehr's house at 11 AM. We will be digging holes and cutting lumber for assembly. Lots of other stuff to do...moving stuff around the deck, moving the picnic table, etc.

Sunday, May 25th: 9 AM for assembly

Monday, May 26th: Contengency day.

I'll will be updating this blog as more info comes in.
